Join us for a beautiful bike ride on the Cape Haze Trail Pioneer Trail from Gasparilla Rd. to Placida where we will stop for lunch at Smoking Jerry's Tiki Bar & Grill and cycle back. The round-trip is 16 miles.
If you only want to do 8 miles to the restaurant and leave after lunch that's OK too. You will need to arrive 40 minutes early (9:50 am), and drop your bikes at the starting point (someone will be there to watch them) Then drive your car to the restaurant. Someone who is doing the 16 Miles will drive down and bring you back to the starting point.
Just let us know when you sign up whether you're doing 8 miles or 16, so we can organize cars.
History
The Cape Haze Pioneer Trail is a paved, scenic rail trail officially opened in 1999 along the historic Charlotte Harbor & Northern Railroad corridor. It runs from Gulf Cove to Placida, following the path once used to transport phosphate, cargo, and passengers to waiting steamships at Boca Grande.
This ride, hosted by Niamh McAnally, and is designed to be comfortable for beginners, while still being enjoyable for more experienced riders.
Come enjoy the scenery, and good conversation.
