Castaways Guided Kayak Tour on Sanibel followed by lunch

About this event

Join your fellow Castaways as we kayak our way through the Commodore Creek Trail on Tarpon Bay on Sanibel Island at the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, April 18 starting at 1:00 p.m. We’ll need to arrive around 12:30 p.m. to sign a waiver and make sure everyone has what they'll need. The kayak tour lasts 1 1/2 hours.  After the tour we’ll head over to Grandma Dot’s, an award winning seafood restaurant , located at a marina: 634 N. Yachtsman Dr, Sanibel

"The Kayak Trail Tour is a wonderful introduction to Tarpon Bay and the coastal environment. Visitors will kayak with an experienced naturalist through the mangrove forest along Tarpon Bay’s Commodore Creek Trail. The trail provides a unique and up-close perspective to the mangrove habitat. Paddlers will learn about the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge’s rich mangrove ecosystem and the wildlife living within it. You’ll be surrounded by red mangroves, wading birds and unsurpassed peace and quiet. In addition to the education paddlers receive on the tour, another benefit of joining a tour (versus a kayak rental), is that paddlers are allowed to keep the kayak for the remainder of the day FREE of charge to explore.* “

Things to know:
1) Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. As far as footwear goes, anything you don't mind getting slightly wet. We can get people in and out of the kayaks without stepping in the water, but they may get splashed here and there.
2) The tour is conducted in double kayaks. If your group ends up being an odd number there will be one person who goes in a single kayak.
3) PFDs are provided as are seat cushions for extra comfort.
4) Please come to the address 900 Tarpon Bay Rd around 12:30pm to make sure everyone has what they need. People can use the facilities before entering the boats and sign their waivers.
5) Tip was not included in the invoice, but is customary and always appreciated for the naturalist.

If the weather is too windy or there is another condition that would prohibit us from taking the boats out, our contact will alert us by Friday afternoon to reschedule at a later date.

COST IS $38.00 per seat, does not include gratuity.

Payment is due upon registration. Please pay by check made out to PGI Castawysm drop off at PGICA or at any Castaways event
