About

The Club’s prime function is to provide informational programs and events that will allow members to take advantage of the many fishing opportunities that exist in the area.  Most meetings feature a guest speaker, often a professional guide or experienced angler, who  covers tackle selection, rigging methods, and techniques that have proven successful in local waters.  Members have the opportunity to ask questions, report on current fishing  conditions, exchange ideas, and swap fish stories.

Members are encouraged to participate in Club Tournaments, fishing outings, special  “how to” clinics, and a number of social functions. Membership is made up of anglers, both male and female, whose fishing skills range from beginner to expert.   New area residents find PGI Fishing Club meetings provide valuable information on fishing conditions that exist in their own back yard.

Resolutions

The PGI Fishing Club (PGIFC) is a non-profit organization comprised of a large group of PGI residents with many varied interests and beliefs due to the diverse background of its members. The principal mission of the Club is to facilitate the common interest of all its members which is the enrichment of their fishing experience in and around Charlotte Harbor. This is done through educational seminars, fishing outings, various contests, programs and gatherings that are primarily funded by membership dues and advertising fees from the Club’s sponsors.

As such, the Club’s Board of Directors has passed a resolution that PGIFC, as a group of diverse individuals who fund the Club’s operations, will not make donations to any private, public, religious, or governmental charitable organizations or other potentially worthy causes. Any such contributions of time, materials and/or financial support shall only be provided by its individual members at their choosing which will ensure the Club’s funding is not misdirected or in opposition to the beliefs and interests of its individual members.

All requests for support shall be directed to PGIFC’s President (with a copy sent to PGIFC’s Vice President). They will in turn address any requests with the Club’s Board of Directors who will decide if such requests get passed on to the members, and determine the method of communicating such requests (if appropriate) to the general membership, including but not limited to a mass distribution email to all current members, an announcement to the members attending a general meeting/event, or a brief presentation at a general Club meeting/event by the requesting entity or person.
