SF Q4 General Meeting and Chili Cookoff - PGICA

SF Chili Pot

It is time for the
Great Seafarers Chili Cook-off!  The contest is taking place at our October 22nd General Meeting.  There is only one thing that can stop us: an insufficient number of chili cooks!

What do we need?  We need enough
pots of chili to feed the hungry Seafarers.  We also need volunteers to help with the dinner setup and cleanup.  In addition, we need 4 tasters to show up and judge the entries.

What does a chili cook need to do?
Sign up........then gather up the necessary ingredients. We also welcome vegetarian chilis.

You should make approximately 3-5 quarts of chili and bring the chili in an electric slow cooker with a serving spoon no later than fifteen minutes before the club meeting.
That would be 5:15 pm.

Prizes will be awarded for the top three voted chili recipes along with bragging rights.

What does a volunteer need to do?
Sign up....then show up thirty minutes ahead of the General meeting. That would be 5:00 pm.  Arrange chili serving area with tables and electric wiring. If you have a power strip that would be very helpful also.
Arrange room as required, grab idle bystanders at the end to help clean up.

What does a taster (Judge) need to do?  Judges cannot enter a chili nor have a spouse (partner) who has entered the contest. Tasters need to arrive at
5:15 pm. This gives them time to review the rules of judging. The judges will obtain their samples and do the tasting during the General Meeting.

If you are not cooking chili, it would be much appreciated if you would bring a dessert/snack item to share.  Cookies, brownies, chips, cornbread, crackers, Monterrey Jack cheese, etc. are possibilities. We do not need too much, but something that complements the chili and maybe takes some of the burn away will be welcome! As always BYOB!

If you can either bring a pot of chili or help us set up for the tasting, please respond to the questions when you register!

This will also be our Q4 General Meeting, so we will be taking nominations for open board positions and discussing info/upcoming events for the remainder of the year!
